IVÁN DUQUE

Iván Duque is a Colombian philanthropist, entrepreneur, academic, and former politician. Alongside his wife, he leads the Innovation for Development Foundation (I+D), a think-and-do tank that promotes social innovation in Colombia and Latin America. He is a Distinguished Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, D.C., and serves as a professor and Director of Climate Resilience at the Adam Smith Center of Florida International University. He is also a Distinguished Fellow at Oxford University's Blavatnik School of Government and a Fellow at both Yale and Cornell Universities.
He is a member of various boards and advisory councils of renowned companies and organizations such as McKinsey, Conservation International, SBTi, Laurel Strategies, FIFA Foundation, and Concordia, among others.
At age 41, he became Colombia's youngest democratically elected president (2018–2022). His tenure was noted for effective management of the COVID-19 pandemic and for achieving the highest economic growth in the country’s history. He also positioned Colombia as a leader in protected areas and energy transition. His work earned him the National Geographic Planetary Leadership Award and the Theodore Roosevelt Award for Conservation.
Today, he is one of Latin America’s most prominent speakers and corporate consultants. He is the author of over ten books, serves as a Fellow with WRI and the Bezos Earth Fund, leads the Concordia Amazon Initiative, and is co-founder of Maloca Films, a production company dedicated to purpose-driven documentaries.
He is married to María Juliana Ruiz, and they have three children.
